Hug from God
by Tom Guyette
One night, I asked God for a hug.
I don't know if he heard,
But suddenly I felt a touch.
Something that made me feel small.
Not weak-small, just small. Simple.
Like I was suddenly easy to understand.
I thought it was ridiculous, but
A feeling said,
Let go, and feel me for once.
You are my son.
I look at you, and I see everything you are,
Everything you have been,
And everything you will be.
And I thought,
This is profound.
I should write it down, and share it.
And a moment later, it sounded silly again.
Who would want to hear that?
But while it lasted, it was . . .
Lovely?
Lovely.
